Painted Byzantine icon. Virgin Agiosortissa.
This icon was painted by Protcencu Irenaeus in 1947, at Hermitage Monastery. Mary is single, in profile, with hands raised in prayer. She looks to the left, usually to a separate image of Jesus Christ. Alternatively, the icon of the Virgin "Place of refuge" (Greek Παναγία η Καταφυγή H) is however noted that icons of the Virgin Mary is single, without child Jesus, are rather rare in Orthodoxy, often considering the presence Virgin Child in arms is a key feature of these icons.
The Assumption is celebrated on August 15,and on the 8th September, the Birth of Virgin Mary. Shi protects children from burns, bruises, human pain, damage.
The size for this painting is 19/26 cm painted on wood.
It can be painted at larger sizes, only on order. Can not be painted in smaller sizes as compared saint becomes smaller than your thumbnail and quality of work decreases.
