Deisis painted icon is an icon that represents Christ as the king sat on the throne, holding the gospel closed and blessing. On His right is sitting The Virgin Mary and St. John the Baptist on His left, both standint and praying. The term "Deisis" comes from Greek and means prayer but a prayer for others.
